Tink in progress...oil on canvas
I really feel painting is becoming a deeper passion for me. I am in love with paint...the colors, texture and the way it moves and changes on the canvas. Each piece starts off awkwardly, but I don't give up. I spend days coming back and tweaking and layering here and there. Then at some point, it all shifts and something magical happens. I fall in love with the work, the way the colors connect, the brushwork, the life that emerges. I keep growing as a self taught artist. I am moved and grateful for the work. Each piece I create adds another dimension to my life. Just had to share my gratitude.

New glass piece!

I've been working on this piece the last few weeks. It is a tribute to the Haida story about the Raven stealing the light. Once my husband makes a nice frame and we hang it up, I'll take another photo that will reflect the true lighting and colors. Of course, the colors of the glass will continually change depending on the light and the seasons. I think that is one reason I love working with is always ever changing in its mood and reflections.

Two Mandalas - oil on canvas

Two mandalas I had a chance to paint this week, one a commissioned piece. It felt good to get back to painting. I'm looking forward to Autumn, when I can quiet down and spend more time in my studio.

Mr. Blubs

My daughter's fish, Mr. Blubs, recently passed away. It was really hard on her as this was her fish that stayed in her room and she was the sole caretaker. I made this painting for her as a keepsake and also included is a picture of his burial site in our garden. It is right next to the site we spread my cat Oscar's ashes. It is lovely to have little things that remind us of our connection to our animal companions that we have loved.

Charlie snoozing in bed - acrylic on canvas

A gift for a friend who recently lost her sweet boy to lymphoma. It is so hard to lose our animal companions. They add so much to our lives. Rest in peace, Charlie.

I find solitude and healing in the forest. I'm fortunate to live in a beautiful luscious woodland.

Newly created stained glass window. 2nd version of cherry blossom.

This has been my main focus for a few weeks. I am very pleased it how it turned out. It was quite a process! I have a few pictures of the process below.

Pink glass for the flowers. These two are specialized Kokomo and Bullseye that contain bits of gold to create the tones....

Begging to cut out pattern pieces of the green muffle glass.
Starting to place pieces onto design. Each piece is numbered and there are 300 pieces to this window.
Using my awesome grinder to finely shape each piece.
Fitting each piece onto the design.
After all the pieces are ground, I then apply copper foiling to the edges. This will help bind the glass with lead solder. Extra support is provided by strong copper strips along main lines.
Zinc framing is attached.

Close up of glass with basic solder

Close up of glass with leaded bead work.

Then the last step is adding a black patina to the lead and doing a thorough cleaning of the window. Hours and hours of work. But truly amazing results!
