Summer fun & Autumn retreat

My postings will be on a hiatus for a few months. I'm going to enjoy the rest of summer with my daughter (the rock climber) and with my husband. We have some sailing adventures coming our way. After summer, I plan to hunker down and work on some new ideas and maybe a series. I look forward to sharing my progress in the future. Ciao!

ARTSplash artist reception

We enjoyed the reception this evening with family and friends. Participating in this show has been a great way to meet other local artists and I have enjoyed seeing the many different styles of work. The show continues through this weekend.

Works in progress

I have been waiting to post anything, hoping I would have something finished by now. But I thought I would go ahead and share some small works I have been working on. The first three are plein air paintings. I was hoping to finish these on site, but had limited time for each when out in the field (we had lots of torrential rain in June here). So I feel they need more work. I'm trying to loosen up and am experimenting with color and application. I'm heading out to paint outdoors again this Friday and am hoping to have a decent piece to submit to the plein air Edmonds show for August. I may not though. I will continue this year to improve my landscape paintings.

The above scene was on location at Kubota gardens south of Seattle

The one above is a local tidal wetland marsh here in Edmonds.

I worked on this one in the rain at one of our local parks. Sorry for the glare.

The next three are very small pieces. The one of Ezzie the chicken is done, but the other two still need work.
