Recent Happenings

It has been awhile since I have done the bloggy thing. Here I am with an update. Happily I had two commissioned pet portraits to do and I'm including them here. I have been continuing my figure drawing nights for the most part and managed to slip in some plein air painting while we had some gorgeous early summer weather! I have also been tying up loose ends getting ready for some gallery shows this summer. One is a juried show and my first one for that matter. I'm pushing myself to do this and my ego is resisting me all the way. But I'm trying to work through my fears to just DO IT. If I get accepted I will certainly let you all know. If not...you will hear crickets...

Overall, I find it hard to find that balance between my creative life and my daily life as mom, wife and the various other hats I wear. My creative life has not been taking the forefront for some time. I know that with summer fun and with school being out, I will have to work extra hard to make time to paint. My inner judge and critic is having a heyday right now with me. That not only affects me emotionally, but causes my auto-immune disease to kick in and give me a wallop! I know I am not alone. All of us artists wake up to the daily challenges of walking in this world. We seem to manage though, don't we...

I follow many of your blogs every morning as I have my coffee. You all inspire me to keep going. I may not share on your blogs how wonderful your work is or how I relate to your stories of joy and struggle. But I do watch and absorb in my silent way. Thank you all for being courageous and for sharing your artistic journeys!

Morning sketches

I am still working on my morning sketches using iPad Paper app. The first image shows the tools I am working with. So much fun and allows for quick sketching!
