Rodem - oil on canvas

Private Collection

This is Rodem, my sister-n-law's departed friend. I never had a the chance to meet him, but I knew they were close and it was a very difficult loss for her. I painted this one to honor him and to give her something special to remember him by.

Healing Hands - oil on canvas

Another large mandala. I created this after a Reiki class I took.

Frog Mandala - oil on canvas

I have drawn and painted many mandalas over the last few years. I find it a very restful and meditative activity. These type of paintings seem to create themselves and I just try to let go and be present to that.

Lobelia - oil on canvas 24 x 18

This cute little pug was commissioned by another dear friend for her son and his girlfriend. We met Lobelia briefly when they visited and she was such a little cutie-pie! I think the part I had the most fun with in this painting was including her toy.

Figgy & Gizmo - oil on canvas 11 x 14

As I'm working on my large glass project and not getting in as much paint time, I will share some older works here. This one was a commissioned piece for a dear friend. I love to experiment with texture and pattern in subtle ways. I am also an animal lover and it is so fulfilling to me to see them come to life on canvas. I am also grateful that I can support my local community in sharing the proceeds with animal rescue organizations.

Buddha Kitty - 8 x 10 oil on canvas

This is an older painting, but one of my favorites. I am drawn to painting animals and this one reminds me of my sweet cat Oscar who is no longer here with me. I love the peacefulness of this painting.

Sacred Torii - oil on canvas 8 x 10

I have been fortunate to do some traveling to Japan with my husband over the years. This is from an old photo I took when we were enjoying our honeymoon almost 12 years ago!

Autumn at Kubota Gardens - acrylic on board 8 x 10

Had time to get two paintings in today! This one is inspired by a photo I took yesterday of a tree that was backlit along a dark path.

This is a painting of a wonderful garden just south of Seattle. The garden was started in 1927 by Fujitaro Kubota. He devoted most of his life to creating this wondrous garden that includes a lovely waterfall, bridges, lakes and meandering trails. It's an open park now that is maintained by volunteers. A must see! There is a carved stone commemorating him in the park too.

Here is a website on the gardens:

Late evening on the Salish Sea. oil on board 8 x 10

This is one of the views from our sailing. I love the evenings when the winds pick up a little and the skies are full of color.

Taking a break from the 250 piece stained glass I'm working on. Discovered a few tools needed an upgrade and am waiting for the parts. After a hiatus from painting due to a trip and this other project, I thought I'd bond with the paint again this week.
